Proposition 64 to legalized recreational marijuana in California. Passed in November 2016, the law went into effect January 1, 2018. In response to recreational cannabis, the state created new rules on how cannabis products must be packaged.
To avoid reading through mountains of legal text content, the state also offers these helpful checklists for brands to remain compliant with the packaging laws.

California Universal Symbol
Legally mandated universal symbol logo mark for the primary panel of California cannabis packaging. Download the symbol in a 0.5” size with and without a white background. The symbol must always be black but can be placed on a badge to stand out from a black background or outlined in white.
California Prop 65 warnings
California cannabis brands are required to warn consumers of myrcene, a terpene in cannabis, having potential for cancer and reproductive harm (when consumed by the bucket load).
